As a Scottish woman, I have always felt a deep connection with my heritage. The idea for this project came from a visit to the highlands a couple years ago, where I learned of the highland clans, the clearances and the Glencoe massacre. I felt I wanted to create a work that could explore that in a way, even if just as a concept.
For this project, I wanted it to be a pretend movie pitch, set in Scotland, with an Ari Aster Horror touch to directing and storytelling. It would tell the story of a girl with Clan Macdonald blood returning home for the first time in many years to make peace with her family's past. However, there remains a curse over the glen, laid by those who choose not to forget.
I will develop the project further, such as conceptualising monsters, other characters and environments to learn to sell the idea. The project is to purely develop my skills in concept art, creative research and to study concept art for movies, as I have purely had an interest in games for many years.
